Océ supports UN-led Seal the Deal Campaign for global climate agreement
As a participant in the UN Global Compact, Océ announced its support for the United Nations’ Seal the Deal campaign. Seal the Deal is a UN campaign calling for a fair, balanced and effective post-Kyoto climate agreement at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP 15), to be held from 7-18 December 2009 in Copenhagen.
Rokus van Iperen, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Océ, writes in his statement of endorsement:
“Océ is a socially and environmentally responsible company in the markets it serves. It is our mission to implement eco-efficient and eco-effective document management and printing. To accomplish this we design our products with their reuse in mind. Océ was one of the first in the industry to establish a complete asset recovery factory, creating a constant stream of parts and units suitable for reuse as service parts and in new machines. Moreover, we have set a target for reducing the amount of landfilled waste from our production sites to 2% of these sites’ total waste. We will continue working at reducing our eco-footprint and we strive to meet our obligations to customers, employees, suppliers, the local communities in which we operate and society at large. We believe deeply in the need for worldwide commitment to strive for a comprehensive global agreement at the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen. Océ supports an effective climate agreement and will do what it takes to help seal the deal!”
The UN Global Compact is a strategic policy initiative for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption. By doing so, business, as a primary agent driving globalization, can help ensure that markets, commerce, technology and finance advance in ways that benefit economies and societies everywhere.
